Rapid lateral flow tests (LFDs) are a vital tool in helping identify cases of COVID-19.  With one in three people with COVID-19 showing no symptoms and potentially spreading it without knowing.  LFDs help prevent the spread of infection, spot outbreaks, and save lives.  LFDs are easy to use, accurate and can give results in thirty minutes so people who test positive can self-isolate immediately and avoid passing on the virus to family, friends and colleagues.

From Friday 9th April everyone in England without symptoms will be able to regularly have a free rapid COVID-19 test twice a week.  People aged 16+ can get a free LFD test at a Surrey community testing site or participating pharmacy.  You can either:

  • Book online
  • Call 020 8865 1952 (Mon-Fri 0830, Sat-Sun 0900-1700, local charges will apply)
  • Collect a test kit for home use.

You will receive your result by text/email from NHS Test and Trace, usually within thirty minutes.  Some people may be able to access a test via their employer or in an educational setting.  Alternatively, you can order a test online from the national programme to be posted to your home.
